The Program Administrator Work Group met again on April 15th, 2021 to discuss New Instructor Training – “What we do after recruiting until the instructor is considered adequate to work without oversight.”
April’s workgroup had attendees from Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, and Wisconsin participating in a discussion on Recruiting and Retention of Instructors, an issue impacting every program in the United States.
Some of the discussions included:
- What happens between recruitment and the prep course (Auditing)
- Pre-Course assignments
- Emphasis in the Prep Course
- Prep completion considerations
- Requirements post Prep
- Mentorship and Shadowing
At the conclusion the workgroup decided to create a survey for may that will be sent out to other administrators, seeking consensus of a “Instructor Life Cycle” document that may be helpful for our profession in the future.
