The Program Administrator Workgroup met again on Thursday, 24 September 2020. Representatives from state and military programs including the Air Force Safety Center, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, New York, and South Carolina attended to discuss current topics faced in Rider Education.
This month’s discussion was centered on sharing ideas on documents relating to program administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) five-year plan.
A theme that is developing is the need to be more vocal and collaborate more in the efforts to support future rider education. How we use the data. we have and to support future research can increase the knowledge that education is better than compliance enforcement as a countermeasure to high crash rates.
Another discussion centered on the need to work more with State Motorcycle Rider Organizations (SRMOs) to develop stronger messages about education programs for riders and future riders.
The next Program Administrator Workgroup will be held on October 29th, 2020 at 1:00 pm Eastern time.
